That Doggie in the Window.

My brother's dog. Just watch. Enjoy.

Updates on Christmas coming. Preview: I have decided to sew Christmas gifts this year...HA. Joke. Lets just say I would have been naked in the pioneer days if it was left to me to make my own clothes.

Do you remember that kind of ...

November.
November means two things...Hunting and Thanksgiving. I have made a flow chart for the visual learners.

It is Monday of my week off of school. No play rehearsal, no tests to grade, no set building, just me, a credit card and my glue gun! I went to the black hole of craft stores, Hobby Lobby. I browsed the aisles, knocked down a few or five dancing Santa hats and set them all off, placed a few things I didn't need in my basket and contemplated my next craft. I came up with these...
Modge Podge Christmas trees for my fireplace. They look a lot cooler in person.
A wreath for my door!
And all while Will was bringing home the trophy. Look at that stud and his deer! This is what I have now given up my cute grey and yellow office for. This and its predecessor from south Texas.

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful Boy

Lenoxx Salsman is here! He is my precious new baby cousin #2 for the year 2010. I guess he would be my second cousin. He's my cousin's kid. How hick did that geneology sound with all them cuzins?  Another boy is added to the family and thus prompting me more and more to start praying now for me to have at least one girl. Mom, Tanner and I went up to Lewisville to greet the new man into our family. I'm gonna get sentimental for a sec....I'm not sure how this is gonna go....don't judge..... I have held babies before. Lots of babies, but I've never held one that is 4 hours old. 4 hours! Like 4 hours ago he was in a body. While I was holding I kept thinking  "4 hours ago he was not here and no one would know what he looked like or what he would be like but now he is here in my arms." Weird. Is this what it is like being 24 and married with no kids? Am I going to do that every time I see someone under the age of three, cause its getting real old real fast. Not ok to be googley eyed over pregnancy and the miracles of babies. Not At All. Will, back me up brother! If Will wont I know I can count on the bestie Christin to slap that fever right out. Its not even baby fever its more of like an incredible awe for the first time of being in the presence of such a fragile and peaceful being. I almost envied it. Not a care in the world and all the love someone will ever need in their life to come. No anxieties, no assignments due, no discipline problems to figure out, nothing. Just a sleeping baby enjoying their first hours of life.

And thats what I think about that.
ok enough of the sap. Gosh what was that Kelsie. You are the funny blogger about weird things that happen to you, not this sap. On to the next thing.

We left the hospital and mom and I decided we would make Eden (the mom) a mum thing for her door. 1. Cause she didn't have anything and
2. The girl one down the hall was U G L Y.

So we trekked to Michael's and Joann's and bought the cutest stuff ever! But how were we going to put this thing together, Where were we going to put this thing together? So what better place that has open plugs for a glue gun than Starbucks. Some people to homework over coffee, we do crafts.

Mission accomplished. Thanks experienced mum making mom!
The years of making ridiculously sized mums and
garters have paid off!

Catch a peek of this video! This is Kale. My sweet      almost 3 year old cousin. He told me he did not learn his letters in school but in fact learned his continents! This may be Youtube viral worthy. I'm not partial or anything.

Keep Holding On

This weekend was the family retreat for Turnpike/Crosspoint whatever you want to call it. Great fun! All weekend Will said that he had a surprise for me. What could it be? New shoes?! A necklace? A new stuffed animal to replace Sandy? A salary raise? Hmmm. We went to dinner at an amazing restaurant in Granbury. Yes I said amazing. Hard to believe, I know! It was called the Loft. Apparently it was a reservation place but when you eat at the Senior special time like we do, reservations were no problem so we walked right in and sat at a table and devoured a delicious meal. We went back to our cozy bunkbed at Riverbend Retreat Center and snoozed until morning. Still no surprise. Now some would say that the lack of any hot, warm, luke warm or room temperature water in our room would have been a surprise and it was! An inconvenience to have on hair washing day. But apparently not the surprise my hubs was talking about. The weekend came and went I left with nothing new.

But these fun things happened!
Jaley Bug
What we got a picture together at a retreat/church function? Yes my friends. Believe it.

Will's new girl friend, Emily. Beautiful.

He parted his way to Sanderson and I parted my way back home. I spent three days at my parents house and still nothing new. After a very productive Wednesday afternoon in walks a very scruffy this

with this

Surprise!
One day while we were driving down 20 I looked over and saw the edible arrangement store. Tastyyy I thought. I turned to Will and said, "I love flowers as much as (maybe more than) the next girl. But an edible arrangement sounds scrumptious!" And he bought me one! WOW!

It was delicious...and still is!

Our House, Its a very very very fine house.

We have completed our first refurnishing a furniture young couple project! We inherited a table and chairs from Will's parent's ranch. One chair was three legged, another had no seat. So we have been living with this table and two chairs accompanied by two other church chairs for approx. a year. Last December I decided I would recover the chairs to make them match a little more. I bought a cool orange fabric to match our very orange kitchen. It has sat on top of the washer for about a year. One day a couple of weeks ago I decided I was going to hunker down and actually fix this table. Looking at design blogs all day at work had inspired me to make something creative! So I did. Will and I worked hard to sand, stain, paint and recover the chairs and table! Here is the lovely chair before...

Here is my kitchen table afterwards!
It is a mahogany stain and a martha stewart pain on the chairs.

Now I can decorate our table for fall! I won a table runner at my mom's bunco group a couple of weeks ago! I finally have a place to put it. I also have four matching chairs! I can also eat dinner at a table again instead of on the couch!

Somewhere Out There

Somewhere out there we ended up with a free Friday night. We blew all caution to the wind and went on an impromptu date. It ended up being one of the best dates we have ever gone on. Just what I needed to get my mind back on us and off of everything else. We were real 20 something newlyweds this weekend! We went to dinner at a normal time. Around 6:30/7:00 unlike the 5:00 we have to do if we have a youth activity Friday night. We went down to Cedar Hill and ate at Babes! Yum! After engulfing a delicious meal of chicken and homestyle veggies we drove to Ellen's Amusement Center. (or something like that) It was this small rinky dink 1950's Beltline Station (You know what I'm talking about if you grew up in Irving). It had putt putt, go carts, batting cages and 1980's arcade games...with TICKETS!
Will with Big Tex
We played putt putt first. Hole 2 was: Big Tex. Will immediately told me the story of when Galaxy brought Big Tex to the ACU campus. So I took a pickie with him and the Galaxy gift to ACU. Hopefully next Monday we will see the real one! Not at ACU .... at the state fair. Fried (insert food/beverage of choice here) any one?
Will putting with the creepy clown.

We ended our night with me dominating Tekken. Thanks Rodger for teaching me the SEGA Tekken skills needed to later impress my husband.

Whistle while you work.

I called Casa Manana today:

First of all to fully appreciate this I must give a little bit of background knowledge. I teach one class period of theater. The enrollment for the class is three. Yup. Three. Three sweet, dingy girls. Its been a joke all year about the theater class having such a low number. We've been getting really creative in ways to do things in class with three people. So I call for a field trip to Casa Manana. Casa Manana has a group rate of 20+ They usually do no sell individual tickets to their student matinees. Cause you usually have at least 16 in a class. So I call to get tickets to Snow White. This is the phone call.

Me: Yes, Hi. I am a teacher and would like to look into purchasing tickets for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Guy: Ok, how many would you like?

Me: Oct. 12 and 4 tickets

Guy: 4?

Me: yes.

Guy: Just four?

Me: yes

Guy: Ok, well that's going to be 18 dollars per ticket and I'm sure we can squeeze four in.

Me: Great.

Guy: Why four? Is it a special needs class?

Me: (trying to hold in my laughter) No, just a very small theater class.

Guy: oh.

Don't Rain on My Parade

To begin with quick updates...
1. I am starting a videography company.... check it out. capturedcanary.squarespace.com
2. Dove Season started
3. Football Season has started
4. I know 2 and 3 from the absence of my husband.
5. The weather was not a flood this year on Sept. 12

In other news... Today is September 13 and that means that yesterday we celebrated our 1 year anniversary! It was pretty exciting. When planning our wedding approx. 2 years ago we settled on the date of September 12. It was convenient, it was after Will's summer and it is kinda "our month." At the time we sat the date I was not planning on being a teacher. Well I am a teacher now and if you went to school you know that September 12 is like the 3rd week of most school years. It is also the week after labor day. So as a result of marrying a youth minister and myself being a teacher you do not get the same breaks and administration looks down upon you taking multiple days at the beginning of the year. In lue of getting fired. we went on an extended weekend vacation to San Antonio/New Braunfels to celebrate our 1 year in August.

Here is Will eating at the Gristmill!      Hyatt Hill Country                Eating Dinner with Jeff and Lauren

Getting Ready for Schlitterbaun      Tour De Texas BBQ             The best breakfast you have ever had

So we had our trip a month ago and this weekend we were just going to exchange gifts and go out to eat on Saturday, September 11, I thought. Our luck continued from our rainy wedding last year and our actual anniversary fell on a Sunday. We had to go to church on Sunday. My husband is the minister.  Happy Anniversary to us! We got all gussied up on Saturday evening. All I was told was wear a dress and bring a bag and my beloved pillow because we "might not come back." We went to the Oceanaire in Dallas and stayed at the Westin!

Here we are eating our cake at the Oceanaire!

On Sunday we got home and I did laundry and made some stockings as Will did his p90x and watched football games. Then we went to church. Happy Anniversary to us. But we ended our night after church by watching our video, eating some more cake and going to bed. We are so exciting! We live on the edge.

Fantasy Weekend

This past weekend was our Fantasy Weekend. Will went with all of his buddies to a lake house for their fantasy football draft party. I went to my grandparents' house and played with my baby cousins.

Will's Fantasy Weekend

Kelsie's Fantasy Weekend

Ok, side note...so as I'm writing this I'm at work. A kid comes in and we have the following conversation...

Kid 1: My throat hurts can I have a peppermint?
Kid 2: Its that time of year when everyone comes in and has a sore throat.
Me: Yeah I hope mine does not start.
Kid 2: What grade are you in?
Me: I'm a teacher.

Glad I put make up on this morning.

Seriously?

Our cable went out. Our DVR erased itself, We can't see the guide and half of our channels do not work. By half I mean all...except... fortunetly ESPN and the Outdoor channel. REALLY? Really Time Warner? Could you have left me with just one channel? Maybe Nickolodeon? HGTV? Disney? I would have been happy with a local channel. 4, 5, 8, 11? Even PBS? KERA? Nope.

Heat Wave

School has started. A new journey has started and it is an excellent journey to be on! I am teaching at Fort Worth Christian! I have one class, 1st period, that has two kids in it. Awesome. I am also working with my roommates moms in their offices. Its a pretty good job! I am working with Lauren's mom in the admission's office and taking over Kaylie's mom's job while she teaches her class. So far in these three days of class no one has thrown a pencil at another child, run out of the room screaming, yelled in the middle of carpet time "I GOTTA USSSEEEE IT" or thrown boogers at me. Life is pretty good all things considered.

Tuesday I got off around 3:30. It was the first day of school and I was excited to get home and cook dinner for Will like a normal domestic wife. Not the wife he received the first year of our marriage who worked until 10:00pm and when got home walked straight to the bathroom, brushed her teach put on her ugly soffee shorts she's had since jr. high, a club tshirt and went strait to bed. I was determined to be a good wifey. So as I was driving home I thought to myself, maybe I'll stop by a brook mays to get a tuner for my violin and I will start to play again. I thought about it, then I did not. So I drove my little self home and opened the door and the temperature inside may have been 120. ok it as 89 but nasty hot. So I turn it down. Then I look up to see if the air is blowing. (like you can see air out of a vent?) So I search the house for a vent that this midget can feel. I can't find one. So I go to the hall bath, climb on the sink, acrobatically lean over to feel luke warm air slowly blowing through the vent. "Willllllll (this is the fourth time i have called him in approx 10 minutes) I think the air is broke." He instructs me to go look on the side of the house at the air conditioner. I don't know much about house hold appliances. But I do know that when it reads 106 on your car thermometer and the fan inside your air conditioner is not moving...thats not a great thing. So as a result I got to spend the evening with mi madre y padre!

Has anyone ever watched Reno 911and Strangers with Candy with their parents.....on the LOGO channel? Cause I did Tuesday..... Tuesday well spent.

State of the Union Address

As we approach the end of our first year of marriage we felt we had so many good stories that we needed to start recording. It is always an adventure with us. We could write a book titled "The Series of Misfortunate Events" with all the exciting things that have happened to us this past year. We will start with a year in review. Like a top 10 of 09/10.
We got engaged...Well in 2008.
In July we bought a house.
We got married in September.

Thank you Browen Weber at Frosted Art for an AMAZING groom's cake!

Then we went on our honeymoon to Costa Rica. If you have not heard the story already well here's a recap from the most stressful week to date of our lives.
1. To begin 6 weeks before the wedding our floor at the venue was demolished. Fortunetly we got a ridiculous upgrade to the top floor brand new loft. We were the first wedding to use the space. UNfortunetly the room was not completed. "It might be completed by your wedding." No Sir, IT WILL be completed by the wedding. So on the week of the wedding when you are doing last minute flowers, We were calling our venue every ten minutes to make sure we actually had a place for a reception that did not look like a warehouse.
2. On Tuesday before our wedding Will's car was broken in to and our passports, wedding license and wedding slide show were all stolen. Thanks dude! I hope you felt great about that one when you opened up the brief case to find a marriage license. Fortunetly the criminal was considerate enough to steal it within the 72 hour deadline so we could get another license and get married legally on Saturday.
3. Our Sunday flight at 9 to Costa Rica got cancelled so we were placed on a 5:30 flight to Costa Rica. To give you the cliff notes version....We were late to DFW cause it was a hurricane outside and I forgot my makeup in Irving, We could not check our bags, We missed our flight in Atlanta, I was balling on the phone to my dad on the floor of the Atlanta airport, we hitched another flight to San Jose, Got a driver to drive us literally across the country to Liberia, got stopped by the Costa Rican police, finally made it to our destination around 8 oclock that night.

This is not what we looked like on Sunday when we arrived.

On Friday of our h-moon it was my birthday! We had a private dinner and the waiter gave me a  traditional Costa Rican birthday desert. It was rice pudding. It was great!

After the honeymoon I went back to Jail....
Memories I'd like to share....
1. Two boys peed on my bookcases.
2. Boy peed on other boy because he was mad at him.
3. A little boy crying at the end of the movie about Thomas Edison because he died.
4. Catching a "couple" hiding their hand holding like junior highers under their crossed legs. Laughing so hard I had to stop the lesson and regain myself.
5. Girl changing her name to Bella...She was team Jacob.

We bought a dog because I ended up being allergic to the cat.

Had our first Christmas! Don't comment on the Wildcat Pride tree. I married Mr. ACU.   ok ok purple and silver were the only attractive ornaments Garden Ridge had.

Went skiing with Turnpike!

Endured LTC.

Went to the Flying Bull Ranch on Memorial Day.

We supported...I supported Tim Urban in American Idol.

Threw a few passes at the Cowboys Stadium.

And finished our year off with a whole lot of mission trips.

Here's to round 2.
